Fed Chair Frontrunner Speaks Out

On the evening of December 8 Beijing time, Kevin Hassett stated that the Federal Reserve should continue to lower interest rates. However, he did not provide a specific interest rate target.

Regarding the extent of future Fed rate cuts, he said that it is necessary to closely monitor the data. The responsibility of the Fed Chair is to observe the data, make adjustments, and explain the reasons for their decisions. Announcing a commitment to interest rates for the next six months right now would be irresponsible.

On the subject of the next Fed Chair, Hassett said: "Trump has a lot of good options. If I have to be that choice, I would be happy to help him."

Hassett also said that the volatility in the U.S. bond market may be partly due to uncertainty in Fed policy. There is still significant downside potential for the U.S. 10-year bond yield.

In an interview, Hassett acknowledged a decline in U.S. consumer confidence in November and attributed it to the government "shutdown," while also hinting that Trump will soon announce a "large amount" of positive news.

According to the schedule, the Federal Reserve Board will hold its monetary policy meeting on December 9 and 10 local time, and will announce its rate decision on the 10th(, which will be at 3 a.m. Beijing time on the 11th). #美联储降息预测
