Amidst the moonshots and the market crashes, there are always those laugh-out-loud (or sometimes cry-out-loud, then laugh) moments we look back on. Today, I'm sharing one of my personal #MyCryptoFunnyMoment stories, hoping it brings a smile to your face!
​The Great Sandwich Dilemma of 2023
​It was the peak of meme coin mania in early 2023. Everyone was aping into $PEPE, and my tiny bag was, against all odds, actually up. I'd put in a minuscule amount, mostly as a joke, and suddenly it was worth... well, enough for a really good sandwich.
​I was hungry. Seriously hungry. And I remember staring at my MetaMask wallet, then at my empty fridge, and thinking, "Is this it? Is this the moment I convert my speculative, internet-frog-themed digital asset into a gourmet turkey club?"
​The Internal Battle
​Logic Me: "It's literally free money for a sandwich! Take the profit, enjoy the lunch, and forget about internet frogs!"
​Degenerate Crypto Me: "But what if it moons?! What if this sandwich costs me a Lambo in two years?!"
​Hunger Me: "SANDWICH NOW. BRAIN NEEDS CARBS."
​The tension was real. My finger hovered over the 'SWAP' button. I could practically taste the artisanal bread.
​The Outcome (Thank Goodness!)
​Just as I was about to capitulate to my stomach, a friend messaged, "Dude, $PEPE is doing a thing!" I glanced back at the chart. A "thing" was an understatement. It had just pumped another 50% in the last 15 minutes.
​I put down my phone, my hunger momentarily forgotten, and watched my sandwich money turn into... well, enough for a week's worth of groceries. And eventually, a much nicer dinner. The sandwich, by the way, was eventually bought with fiat.
​It was a stark reminder that in crypto, sometimes the best move is no move, and hunger can be a surprisingly dangerous trading indicator!
