Topo Chico Mineral Water may be harder to find in stores this year.

The sparkling mineral water is “temporarily unavailable” in the United States, Coca-Cola, the owner and manufacturer of Topo Chico, said in a statement obtained by USA TODAY on Feb. 24. Coca-Cola said it is currently upgrading its Topo Chico facility and production at the mineral water source in Mexico.

Though the traditional Topo Chico Mineral Water will be unavailable for some time, other Topo Chico products will still be on shelves, according to the statement.

The facility upgrades come less than a year after Coca-Cola recalled Topo Chico Mineral Water bottles shipped to five states due to possible bacterial contamination. The products, recalled in June 2025, were removed from store shelves at 40 retail locations across Arizona, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas, USA TODAY previously reported.

When will Topo Chico begin disappearing from shelves?

As of Feb. 24, consumers may already notice that Topo Chico Mineral Water is more difficult to find.

Why is Topo Chico unavailable in the US?

Topo Chico Mineral Water is “temporarily unavailable” in the U.S. because Coca-Cola is upgrading its facility and production at its water source in Mexico, according to the beverage company’s statement.

When will Topo Chico be available again in the US?

Coca-Cola hopes to have Topo Chico back in U.S. stores “later this year,” according to the statement.

Where is Topo Chico water sourced?

The mineral water that makes up Topo Chico is sourced from the Topo Chico spring at the foot of the mountain Cerro del Topo Chico in Monterrey, Mexico, according to Coca-Cola. The mineral water has been sourced from this particular spring since 1895.
