Lazard chief market strategist Temple said that the UK’s Merkez Bankası may see further divergence in its outlook for future interest rates at this week’s interest rate decision. At the February meeting, seven members voted for a 25 basis point rate cut, while two members voted for a larger 50 basis point cut. He pointed out that the UK’s Merkez Bankası is expected to keep the interest rate unchanged at 4.50% on Thursday, but recent weak economic data may prompt some policymakers to vote for a rate cut. He said, “Considering the economic data released since February, we may see greater divergence of views on this decision.”
