Understanding K, M, B: The Numbers You See Everywhere

robot
Abstract generation in progress

If you’re into crypto, trading, or just browsing social media, you’ve definitely seen these abbreviations thrown around. Time to decode them once and for all.

K = Thousand The “K” is shorthand for “kilo.” Simple as that.

  • 1K = 1,000
  • 50K = 50,000
  • 100K = 100,000

M = Million One thousand thousands. A lot more zeros.

  • 1M = 1,000,000
  • 10M = 10,000,000

B = Billion One thousand millions. Now we’re talking big numbers.

  • 1B = 1,000,000,000
  • 5B = 5,000,000,000

Quick breakdown:

Term Value
1K 1,000
1M 1,000,000
1B 1,000,000,000

Why does this matter? When you’re analyzing market cap, trading volume, or project valuations in crypto, these numbers pop up constantly. Knowing the difference between a token worth 500K vs 500M is pretty crucial for making informed moves.
