If you treat being a X creator as your main career, you can indeed earn a decent income, but I think it's unnecessary.

Let me share my thoughts. Someone asked me if being a KOL is profitable and why I still look for a job. Now I tell you: yes, it can be profitable. But I’ve always considered being a X creator as a part-time gig. If I can earn, I do my best; if I can't, it’s no big deal. I’m also working on other businesses, so even if one day my account is gone, I won’t be starving. I have a job. Of course, working in Web3 also helps with managing accounts, just like our boss said, who fully supports us doing self-media. If you can grow an account to two million followers, that’s impressive, and you can even ask for a raise. For me, work allows me to keep learning and improving, and during creative bottlenecks, it keeps me from being bored. Even if my account income exceeds my salary, I still believe that the opportunities and experience gained are more valuable than money.
Why do I say that self-media isn’t suitable as a main career? Because when you put all your effort into creating content you don’t want to post just for traffic, it’s meaningless for personal development.
Of course, if creating self-media is just about recording your life and can’t be monetized at all, then it’s also pointless.
Every time I find that my carefully created content gets no traffic, but a casual post suddenly blows up, I feel quite helpless.
Recently, I went to Hong Kong mainly to get a Hong Kong SIM card. It’s actually not as difficult as I imagined. When opening an account, you must also open a bank account, or you’ll have to make another trip. Just bring your ID card or passport plus the Hong Kong and Macau travel permit, and you’re good to go—turn on data roaming or find a place to WiFi, it takes less than five minutes. I opened accounts with Star and HSBC. Someone asked why I didn’t get a virtual card and still had to go to Hong Kong? Because I tried, and my address shows it doesn’t support Hong Kong accounts, so I had to make a trip. It’s no big deal; I was planning to do it anyway. For me, having a few Hong Kong cards makes it easier to participate in other activities later.
After finishing, I received my first payment today, which made me pretty happy. It was an unexpected income from creation, even if it’s not much compared to other creators.
Having a self-media account is a plus anywhere. Manage your traffic well, use it in the right way. That’s all I can think of for now, so I’ll stop here.
