Japan September Household Consumer Confidence Index: Positive for JPY

The Cabinet Office of Japan released the September Household Consumer Confidence Index on October 2, 2025. The actual reading was 35.3, compared to a forecast of 35.2 and a previous value of 34.9.This index is derived from a survey of approximately 5,000 households, covering living conditions, income status, employment, and willingness to purchase durable goods, and reflects households’ expectations for the future economy. A result above expectations tends to have a positive impact on the Japanese yen.This data carries a medium level of market importance (level 2). It is compiled using household survey methodology and presented as a composite indicator. The index is released monthly, with the next publication scheduled for November 2, 2025.
