Trump re-sues The New York Times for defamation
According to Mars Finance, on October 17, U.S. President Trump filed a defamation lawsuit against The New York Times and several journalists again on Thursday local time, accusing the media of attempting to undermine his 2024 campaign and tarnishing his business reputation. A federal judge had previously dismissed his initial lawsuit on the grounds of its lengthy and disorganized nature. The revised complaint submitted on Thursday evening has been reduced to 40 pages, less than half of the original version. The New York Times journalist Michael S. Schmidt, who was listed as a defendant in the original complaint, has been removed from the defendant list. Also cut were extensive praises for Trump, such as referring to his 2024 election victory as “the greatest personal and political achievement in American history.” Consistent with the initial complaint, the revised complaint still seeks $15 billion in damages.
