The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics canceled the October non-farm payroll report, and the November report has been rescheduled to be released on December 16.
[U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Cancels October Non-Farm Payroll Report; November Report Rescheduled for Release on December 16] The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that it will not publish the October Non-Farm Payroll Report, stating that the originally scheduled employment data from October (business survey) will be merged into the November report. The merged report is scheduled for release on December 16, which means that Fed officials will not have access to this key data during the last policy meeting of the year (the Fed's interest rate decision will be announced on December 11 at midnight Beijing time). The agency noted that the October household survey data used to calculate the unemployment rate and other key indicators cannot be retrospectively collected. The U.S. Non-Farm Payroll Report consists of two parts: the household survey and the business survey, with the business survey used to compile non-farm employment data. The agency also stated that it will extend the data collection period for the November household and business surveys.
