#PI# is about to upgrade the protocol to version 23
Under the parallel released by Linux Node, Pi Network is preparing for an important upgrade: transitioning from protocol version 19 to version 23. The Pi protocol is adapted from the Stellar protocol. This version is a customized Pi protocol built on the foundation of the upgrades extracted from Stellar protocol version 23, which implements new features and control layers. The upcoming protocol upgrade will be gradually implemented through successive versions and may require a planned interruption of blockchain services. Announcing such upgrades in advance is to help partners, third-party services, and the community prepare in advance.
The launch is phased for careful testing:
The Testnet1 upgrade will begin this week and will continue for the next few weeks. Note: During the Testnet1 protocol upgrade, the Testnet1 blockchain may experience minor interruptions. Pi will launch a new community node container for Testnet1, and users do not need to take any action. Testnet 2 and Mainnet will be implemented in phases within a few weeks after the completion of Testnet 1 upgrade, bringing the entire ecosystem to version 23. Note: There may be specific interruptions during the upgrade period, which will be communicated in advance to partners and pioneers. During this upgrade, there may also be temporary interruptions in the availability of Pi on third-party service sites (such as centralized exchanges (CEX)).
