CEX refutes U.S. Senator Murphy's accusation of "favoring Trump," calling it "utterly ridiculous"
[CEX refutes allegations of “favoring Trump” by U.S. Senator Murphy, calling it “absurd to the extreme”] CEX publicly rebutted the accusations made by Democratic Senator Chris Murphy on social platform X. Murphy claimed that CEX received political favoritism due to donations to the Trump administration and related projects, which led the SEC to withdraw its lawsuit against CEX earlier this year. Murphy posted on X that the CEX donated $46 million to the election campaign, participated in funding Trump's inauguration, and contributed to the construction of a new banquet hall at the White House, all of which are related to “Trump's corrupt system.” According to The Washington Post, Senate Democrats are currently reviewing the $300 million White House ballroom project and are demanding full disclosure of its funding sources. CEX Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad called these allegations “absurd” in response. He pointed out that the major political action committee in the cryptocurrency industry, Fairshake, is a bipartisan organization that has also supported several Democratic lawmakers, including Murphy's three new colleagues.
Shirzad also added that it has been a practice for businesses to donate to presidential inaugurations from Obama to Biden to Trump. The donation from the CEX to the banquet hall is made through the Trust for the National Mall, participating in the project alongside businesses from various industries.
