Sui Network experienced a 5-hour outage yesterday, reigniting discussions about blockchain infrastructure reliability. A closer look at recent downtime metrics across major Layer 1 protocols reveals interesting patterns.
Solana leads the downtime leaderboard with 6 recorded outages totaling approximately 58.5 hours. Sui Network follows with 2 outages accounting for roughly 8.5 hours of offline time. Aptos had 1 outage lasting around 5 hours.
What's worth noting: when stacking these numbers, Sui's stability trajectory appears more aligned with Solana's experience curve than Aptos'. Both Solana and Sui have faced multiple incidents over their respective lifecycle periods, suggesting they've undergone similar growing pains as adoption scaled. Aptos, with fewer outages to date, occupies a different position in this reliability spectrum.
For traders and node operators, these metrics underscore why infrastructure redundancy and network monitoring remain critical infrastructure considerations in the broader ecosystem.
