Vitalik Buterin Sells Multiple Tokens at Once
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin sold off WOOLLY, IZZY, CHIB, and OP tokens that were sent to his public address some time ago. The tokens were exchanged for 9.4 ETH, worth approximately $29 400, according to Arkham Intelligence analysts. The transactions were carried out through decentralized services and bridges such as LiFi Diamond, Socket Getaway, Across Protocol, and Bungee. Buterin exchanged 7,528 OP tokens for ETH via Bungee. Then, the Ethereum co-founder swapped 4.508 million DEGEN tokens and 23.988 million CHIB tokens for ETH through Socket Gateway and PullSplit. One of the largest single conversions was made via Across Protocol, where Buterin earned 4,496 ETH from the sale of tokens. At the time of these memecoin sales, ETH was trading just above $3,136. The coins received were transferred to his addresses, increasing his ETH holdings. Buterin has repeatedly sold tokens he receives for free to his address. The Ethereum co-founder has stated that he sees no value in such tokens and has criticized crypto projects that send their tokens to his wallet for promotion. Usually, the proceeds from memecoin sales are donated by Buterin, who requests token donors to send them directly to charitable organizations. In October, the Ethereum co-founder sold 275 trillion CatCoin tokens for 14,216 USDC stablecoins. In January of last year, he sold 340 billion DOG tokens for 5.2 ETH, 50 billion ESTEE for 116,307 USDC, and 10 trillion DINU for 4,181 USDC. In 2024, he exchanged 10 billion MOODENG tokens for 308.69 ETH, of which 260 coins were donated to the biotech charity platform Kanro. Previously, Buterin discussed seven ways to use memecoins in everyday life. Last year, the Ethereum co-founder stated that decentralized finance (DeFi) has much greater potential than memecoins and non-fungible tokens (NFT).
