Suppose it is now 2026, I have to ask a somewhat impolite question: Is your website still around?

I'm not talking about the domain that is still being renewed, nor the cloud server that is still running. The real question is—if tomorrow the cloud service provider shuts down your account, and your credit card payment fails, will everything you've painstakingly built on the internet still exist?

For the vast majority of developers, the answer is very painful: no. The products we pour our hearts into building are actually floating on someone else's cloud, and could disappear at any moment.

This is the harsh reality of the current situation. Web3 originally promised decentralization, but just look at the current dApp ecosystem: smart contracts are indeed on the chain, but what about the interfaces you open? Most are still hosted on some cloud service provider’s servers. With just a subpoena or a simple mistake, the entire application could crash. A carefully crafted DeFi protocol could instantly turn into a 404.

This kind of "halfway decentralization" is suffocating. We entrust the core logic to the blockchain, but leave the entire front-end experience to old powers.

It wasn't until Walrus appeared that there was a turning point. It is not just a storage solution, but more like a redefinition of the internet. What should true HTTP look like? Maybe Walrus Sites has already provided the answer.

Damn, right to the point. We're all working for cloud service providers.

That really hits home; it feels like we're all building houses on someone else's land.

Damn, isn't this exactly what I've been saying? True decentralization hasn't arrived yet, and right now it's all PPT coins. Where's the promised Web3? As a result, dApps are no different from traditional internet, the front end is still hostage, and smart contracts are just on-chain for show. Walrus does have some substance, but dare to go all-in? I'm currently both wanting to get on board and afraid of becoming a leek. This wave really exposes how hypocritical the entire ecosystem is. We put our money on the chain, but the experience still relies on someone else's servers. Stop hyping it up, come back when true decentralization arrives. Right now, it's just a centralized scam disguised as Web3.
