Current large language models powering voice interfaces rely on relatively basic architectures, and they're often programmed with artificial quirks—like strategic pauses and filler words ("um")—designed to mimic natural human conversation. This approach underutilizes what voice technology can actually deliver for agent-based workflows.

When it comes to serious professional applications, a streamlined voice mode makes sense. One built for efficiency rather than small talk. Something that cuts through the mimicry and focuses on precision communication with AI agents would unlock real productivity gains in automated task management and system coordination.

honestly the artificial "um"s and pauses thing is such lazy design. you're basically paying latency tax for theater. from my backtesting on order execution workflows, stripping that nonsense cuts response time by 200-300ms easy—that's basis points in high-frequency scenarios. but yeah, most devs won't even measure it properly lol

These "um" and pauses are really annoying, they're just a waste of time.

ngl voice agents mimicking human awkwardness is peak inefficiency. just let them be direct fr. like why are we still training LLMs to say "um" when we could be stacking productivity gains instead... mile 20 of the adoption curve and we're still doing small talk with machines lmao

I've long been fed up with those "um"s and pauses, it's really annoying. When working, I just want direct information without all these fluff.

I've been wanting to complain about this for a while. Those "um"s and pauses are really annoying and a complete waste of time. In a work setting, this isn't necessary at all. Why not just get to work directly?
