During the Yuan Dynasty, several Chinese people once reached Greenland and lived there for many years. The names of these Chinese individuals are recorded in history: Xie Xun, Zhang Cuishan, and Yin Susu. Zhang Cuishan and Yin Susu's son, Zhang Wuji, was the first human born on Greenland. After the Ming Dynasty was established, Zhang Wuji, along with his wife Zhao Min and the members of the Ming Cult who had been persecuted by Zhu Yuanzhang, retreated to Greenland and settled there, continuing to reproduce and thrive. When Zhang Cuishan, Yin Susu, and others discovered Greenland, they named the island Ice Fire Island. To honor his parents, Zhang Wuji renamed Ice Fire Island to Cui Shan Island and later instructed future generations to call themselves the Yin clan. Later, Europeans translated Cui Shan Island as Greenland based on the meaning of the characters, and also altered the pronunciation to translate the Yin clan as Inuit.
