Resonac Raises Copper-Clad Laminate Prices by 30% Starting This March Amid Supply Chain Pressures
Resonac Corp., the Japanese chemical manufacturer, announced Friday that it would implement a significant price adjustment for its copper-clad laminate and prepreg product lines, with increases of approximately 30 percent taking effect March 1.
The price hike comes against the backdrop of substantial cost escalation throughout the supply chain. Raw material expenses—particularly copper foil and glass cloth used in electronic circuit board manufacturing—have surged due to persistent supply-demand mismatches in these critical markets. Beyond raw materials, the company faces mounting pressure from labor and transportation expenses, creating what Resonac characterized as an exceptionally strained operating environment.
Prior to this decision, Resonac had implemented various cost optimization initiatives aimed at offsetting margin compression. However, these internal efficiency measures proved insufficient to address the magnitude of external cost pressures. The Japanese chemical firm determined that a structured price adjustment was necessary to maintain sustainable operations.
The market has responded positively to the announcement. SHWDY shares, representing Resonac’s American depositary shares on OTC Markets, closed Thursday’s session at $44.45, reflecting a gain of $1.82 or 4.3 percent, suggesting investor confidence in the company’s strategic positioning.
