Farcaster co-founder Dan Romero confirms that the decentralized social protocol will continue to operate normally, dismissing rumors of its shutdown. The protocol has approximately 250,000 monthly active users and over 100,000 funded wallets as of December 2025, and is currently transitioning to Neynar, a startup focused on developers, led by them. Romero also stated that Merkle plans to return all $180 million raised to investors and clarified that the funds used for his recent home purchase came from Coinbase's IPO proceeds.
