When Will the Next Crypto Bull Run Begin? Experts Weigh In

The cryptocurrency market is at a crossroads. After months of gold dominating headlines with a historic rally, market analysts are now pointing to a potential inflection point that could trigger the next major crypto bull run. Leading crypto strategists suggest that as investors cash out of gold, Bitcoin could become the next beneficiary of this massive capital shift.

Gold’s Peak Marks a Turning Point for Markets

Gold’s spectacular 2025 rally came to an abrupt halt in late October when spot prices plummeted from their all-time high of $4,392 per ounce to $4,250—erasing nearly $1 trillion in market value. The collapse came as geopolitical tensions eased, with President Trump adopting a softer stance on U.S.-China trade negotiations, prompting institutional investors to take profits after the precious metal’s remarkable 60% surge.

The timing is significant. Technical indicators reveal that gold’s Relative Strength Index (RSI) has climbed above 85, a level that typically signals overbought conditions and suggests limited room for further gains. This technical exhaustion, combined with profit-taking, signals that the commodity’s bull run may be losing momentum.

Capital Rotation Signals a Bitcoin Rally Could Be Imminent

According to crypto analyst Mario Nawfal, institutional investors are quietly rotating capital from gold into digital assets. “They sold gold at peak levels and are now deploying that liquidity into Bitcoin,” he noted. This isn’t merely speculation—similar patterns emerged in 2020 when gold peaked in August and Bitcoin subsequently exploded from $10,000 to $60,000 within months.

Currently, Bitcoin exhibits the opposite technical picture compared to gold. While gold is overbought, Bitcoin’s RSI sits near 32, indicating deeply oversold conditions. This divergence—combined with massive institutional cash from gold sales—suggests the market setup mirrors previous market cycles where capital flows from traditional assets into cryptocurrency.

Michael van de Poppe, another prominent crypto strategist, echoes this assessment: “When gold completes its cycle, investors will shift focus to the next growth opportunity. Bitcoin historically lags gold’s rally but significantly outperforms once the precious metal peaks.”

What Price Targets Do Analysts Predict for Bitcoin’s Next Bull Cycle?

The convergence of technical signals and capital availability has sparked ambitious price predictions. Van de Poppe forecasts Bitcoin could reach between $150,000 and $180,000 before the end of 2025, representing substantial upside from current levels. More bullishly, he suggests Bitcoin could potentially approach $1 million within the next one to two years as the next crypto bull run gains momentum.

As of January 2026, Bitcoin trades at $87.71K, suggesting significant room for appreciation if the predicted capital rotation materializes. The key variable remains whether institutional investors will indeed shift their gold profits into cryptocurrency, as they did in previous market cycles.
