Yoo Young-sik (Tonny Lyu) was not born destined to operate a digital asset exchange.
At least, that’s what he believes himself.
In 2013, even he didn’t expect to create Korea’s first digital asset exchange. Its beginning was less a meticulous plan and more the result of multiple coincidental events.
Let’s turn back the clock to 2010.
That summer, Yoo Young-sik was in California with Korea’s first astronaut, Ko San. Both were students at Singularity University, located in the heart of Silicon Valley. It was a ten-week intensive training program. Though short, it was extremely dense.
Singularity University, despite its name, is not a traditional university that grants formal degrees. Nevertheless, it holds a subtle and special position in Silicon Valley and the world of technological innovation. Founded by Google executives and space entrepreneurs, the campus is located within NASA’s research park.
The core concepts taught here are simple.
Technological innovation and the idea of the “singularity” in 2045, when artificial intelligence will surpass human intelligence.
The tuition in 2010, including accommodation and meals, was $25,000.
