Southern Communist City and the European Union accelerate the internal approval process for the free trade agreement

The Southern Common Market (Mercosur) and the European Union officially signed a series of agreements on January 17 this year. According to official EU documents, this signing includes a “package of agreements” consisting of two separate documents: one is the “EU-Mercosur Partnership Agreement” (EMPA), covering political dialogue and comprehensive cooperation, and the other is the “Interim Trade Agreement” (iTA), focused on achieving trade benefits first. The series of agreements aims to eliminate most tariffs, expand market access, strengthen bilateral trade, investment, and rule cooperation, and take a key step toward creating one of the world’s largest free trade zones.
