According to real-time flight tracking websites and the Korean military’s announcement on the 8th, as the conflict in the Middle East escalates, a large number of U.S. military large transport aircraft have recently been departing from Osan Air Base in South Korea. Since late February, several large transport planes such as C-5 Galaxy and C-17 Globemaster III have arrived at Osan and then left one after another. It is understood that many of these aircraft departed from Charleston Air Force Base in South Carolina, transferred through Anchorage, Alaska, before arriving in Korea, with some heading to U.S. military bases in Japan. Notably, C-5 aircraft, larger than the C-17, have appeared at Osan, drawing significant attention. Reports indicate that at least two C-5s arrived at Osan in late February and left Korea on February 28 and March 2, respectively. One of them flew to Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, a key strategic U.S. base in the Middle East. This has led to speculation that the U.S. may have begun deploying equipment to the Middle East even before launching airstrikes on Iran. Meanwhile, C-17 aircraft have been concentrated in departing from Osan between March 3 and 7, with at least six confirmed to have flown to Anchorage, Alaska. Some of these aircraft subsequently continued to U.S. Air Force bases in Germany, which are important hubs for U.S. military operations in Europe. (CCTV News)
