Mastercard has launched Verifiable Intent, a trust framework based on open standards developed in partnership with Google, aimed at serving AI-driven "agent commerce." It creates an encrypted record that links user identity, intent, and behavior, providing visibility and trust when AI agents make autonomous purchases, and employs privacy-preserving selective disclosure techniques. The framework will be integrated into Mastercard's agent payment API. Meanwhile, cryptocurrency supporters like Coinbase's Brian Armstrong believe that AI agents are better suited for crypto wallets, while projects like EigenCloud and the dAI team at the Ethereum Foundation are building blockchain-based infrastructure for the AI agent economy.
