Gelonghui, March 16 — The Vietnamese Ministry of Trade announced on Monday that, due to the global oil supply disruptions caused by the Iran conflict, Vietnam has requested assistance from Japan and South Korea to increase its oil supply channels. In a statement, the Ministry of Trade said that the trade minister made these requests at the Energy Security Summit held in Tokyo over the weekend. Vietnam has two refineries capable of meeting about 70% of the country’s fuel needs. Most of the crude oil processed there comes from the Middle East. According to government customs data, Vietnam imported 14.2 million tons of crude oil last year, a 5.3% increase year-on-year.
