ChainCatcher reports that a fuel tank facility near Dubai International Airport (DXB) in the United Arab Emirates caught fire suddenly on March 16 local time. Preliminary investigations suggest a drone attack. Dubai International Airport has temporarily suspended flights, and Emirates has announced a suspension of operations. Some flights originally scheduled for today have been canceled.

Today, several Chinese flights to Dubai diverted to other airports. Flights from Guangzhou to Dubai EK363, from Shanghai to Dubai EK303, and from Shenzhen to Dubai EK329 have diverted to Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). The Beijing to Dubai EK307 flight diverted to Muscat. Previously, Chinese airlines’ flights to Dubai had been suspended until the end of the month, with only Emirates flights still operating.
