Tsuen Wan Line New Signalling System First Working Day MTR: Overall Operations Running Smoothly
Today marks the first working day since the Tsuen Wan Line of MTR introduced its new signaling system. MTR stated that additional train service and engineering personnel were deployed along the line today, and overall train operations until noon were smooth.
Regarding expected integration issues, such as train stopping positions aligning with automatic platform doors and automatic train speed adjustments during operation, the team is dedicated to handling and fine-tuning these issues. They are also continuously collecting data and will conduct a comprehensive review after midnight when the trains are taken out of service. MTR will continue to closely monitor the operation of the new system to minimize the impact on passenger service.
After the signaling system on the Tsuen Wan Line was switched over, other urban lines including the Kwun Tong Line, Island Line, and Tsueng Kwan O Line still use the original systems. Therefore, maintenance work involving cross-line operations by engineering trains late at night requires switching between the old and new systems. During late-night hours, some train services on the Tsuen Wan and Kwun Tong Lines will be adjusted. Between 11 p.m. and midnight, one or two trains may arrive slightly earlier or later by a few minutes, allowing engineering trains to utilize the gaps between trains for cross-line and cross-system dispatching. The train frequency during this period remains unchanged and does not affect the timing of the last train.
