Ericsson's next-generation chips will be based on Intel process technology, accelerating the commercialization of AI-native 6G.
IT House March 3 News, Intel and Ericsson announced a partnership during the 2026 Mobile World Congress (MWC2026) in Barcelona, jointly accelerating the commercialization of AI-native 6G, further deepening a decades-long collaboration.
This partnership will cover AI-driven RAN and packet core network application scenarios, including mobile connectivity, cloud technology, and computing capabilities, as well as platform-level security and network functions, speeding up the deployment of cloud-native solutions.
The collaboration focuses on AI-native network innovation, encompassing computing, connectivity, cloud, and standards development, spanning core networks, Radio Access Networks (RAN), and edge scenarios.
Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger stated, “With Intel’s advanced manufacturing processes powering Ericsson’s next-generation chips, long-term joint research plans, and solutions like Cloud RAN equipped with Intel Xeon processors and flexible AI capabilities, we continue to provide leading global operators with outstanding performance, energy efficiency, and reliable industry support, solidifying the path of intelligent network evolution.”
IT House notes that Ericsson and Intel have already reached several key collaborations in Cloud RAN, 5G core networks, and open network infrastructure.
