After the big rally, what is new in the Bitcoin ecosystem and narrative?

Since the beginning of the year, Bitcoin's ecology and narrative have come alive with the price of BTC. In the last two weeks, the price of bitcoin reached a new 18-month high, breaking through the $35,000 mark yesterday.

The rising water of Bitcoin overflowed to BRC 20 and Ordinals, which excited the long-suppressed Bitcoin ecological community, and the price of the coin naturally rose. Take the most representative ORDI, which saw its highest increase of 30% in October.

Batch inscription, inscription numbering and back to URL, Ordinals "biggest ever" update

On October 24, Ordinals creator Casey Rodarmor merged the v 0.10.0 update into the Ordinals code, which was hailed by the community as the largest update "ever." According to the interpretation of the developer @raphjaph and founder, @SanjFomojis and @rodarmor, BlockBeats found that the important functions of this update are: batch inscription, adding metadata, inscription number end, remote burning command.

Batch inscription uses a new pointer field to efficiently make multiple inscriptions in one transaction. The principle of batch inscription is to put all inscriptions into the same input and specify in the output where they should be inscribed. Community creators use this feature by creating a file called "batch.yaml".

Add metadata A metadata field is added to the inscription, allowing any type of additional information to be added. Users can specify a meta-protocol in the inscription, build any content, and help indexers distinguish between different protocols.

The inscription numbered end point allows visitors to get the inscription numerically in the URL. The remote burn command engraves the asset on an ordinal number and sends the corresponding ETH NFT to the remote burning address for burning. Among them, batch inscriptions are the most noteworthy feature, which is considered by community developers to be "the most powerful feature in the updated version", as this will make recursive inscriptions less expensive to mint. Recursive inscriptions, a feature unlocked in the Ordinals update this June, allow inscriptions to interact with each other to enable new use cases, making good use of the composability of the Ordinals protocol.

In addition, the new feature "Allow visitors to get inscriptions numerically in URLs" is also a point that excites the community. In the previous "inscription number variability" dispute, Casey Rodarmor had hoped that the inscription number would no longer be used in the URL, but this idea risked dissolving the meaning of the inscription, which caused a strong opposition from the community, and eventually Casey compromised the community's opinion, and the inscription number became an important inscription identifier recognized by the community.

Interestingly, in a tweet that "celebrates that the corresponding NFT can be reached directly through the inscription number of the URL again", Casey's retweet comment seems to be a little helpless and worried, "We finally bent our knees".

Bitcoin Ideal or Time Traveler? Eight years ago, someone was collecting rare congs

Bitcoin's unit of composition is satoshis, and each Bitcoin consists of 100 million satoshis. Since every satoshi of Bitcoin can be tracked and transferred, and the scarcity and particularity of satoshis can be determined by ordinal theorists, satoshis have a special meaning.

On January 21, 2023, Bitcoin developer Casey Rodarmor launched the Ordinal protocol, which provides a unique number for Satoshi, so there is a new way to play - stir-fry rare Satoshi.

Therefore, frying rare satoshis is a game that only started this year, and on October 23, Twitter netizens @TO discovered a 2014 Bitcoin wallet with 1616 satoshis in the wallet, of which 1615 are rare satoshis. This means that the owner of the wallet separated the satoshi from the UTXO 9 years before the introduction of ordinal number theory.

With a rare probability like "1615/1616", plus a point in time like 8 years ago, this discovery can only be described as "surprise" and "magic".

Rare Satoshi is a concept that emerged after ordinal number theory, so it is difficult to understand how this wallet owner consciously "withdraws" rare Satoshi eight years ago.

The community called this lucky one a "time traveler", silently collected eight years ago, experienced the ups and downs of bitcoin many times, and when the Ordinals protocol was born and the "rare satoshi" was discovered, the collection preferences that once belonged to the owner of this wallet suddenly had a common value recognized by the community, which added a footnote to the community's belief in bitcoin.

BRC-69 New gameplay, Ordibots 3D series released

OrdiBots founder @RAF_BTC tweeted early on the 24th, announcing that the new series of Ordibots 3D will be launched randomly.

This new 3D series release uses the BRC-69 standard, which enables the implementation of complete 3D assets on-chain. Created by Luminex Launchpad, the BRC-69 uses a technique called recursive inscriptions to optimize block space usage by up to 90%.

Since its launch in July, BRC-69 has attracted a lot of attention from the community, with "recursive inscriptions" that allow miners to present the final image on all "Bitcoin NFTs" by simply entering text without uploading an image file. Based on this, the size of the inscription will not be limited by the Bitcoin block size of 4 MB.

@RAF_BTC made a video in the tweet announcing Ordibots 3D, which was released in May this year as the first NFT series OrdiBots release tweet with Generative BRC-721, and 3D OrdiBots pushed open the door of static NFT pictures and landed one after another.

At that time, Generative BRC-721 significantly reduced the cost of issuing and minting NFTs by "only uploading features and then combining" method, but that was just the beginning, and BRC-69 gave the Ordinals ecosystem more room for imagination.

Proposal to govern BRC 20 with $ordi

KOL 0x Wizard (@0x cryptowizard) put forward a governance proposal, arguing that as the first and most widely accepted BRC 20 asset, $ordi is already considered a native token of the BRC 20 protocol, due to the increasing number of proposals for BRC 20, out of the need for decentralized governance, people need a governance mechanism and punishment mechanism to avoid centralized indexers doing evil. Therefore, 0x Wizard makes a proposal for $ordi as a governance token, and community participants can use $ordi to vote on future proposals for BRC 20. Indexer needs to stake $ordi for indexing, and obtain corresponding ecological fees (such as various ecological fees in the future), if there is an error/malicious result, the $ordi staked by Indexer will be confiscated.

Community members expressed their thoughts: "The only way out for $ordi is to serve as a governance token for BRC 20, empowering $ordi and opening up the future expansion of BRC 20. Unfortunately, after $ordi gone that far, no one could fully pick it up. If a few months ago@domodata united several powerful exchanges to DAO the BRC 20 protocol, and then made a decentralized index. Both BRC 20 and ordinals will evolve better than they do today. This is an obvious governance strategy, why hasn't anyone pushed forward?"

@RAF_BTC, founder of OrdiBots and DogePunks, fully agreed with the proposal: "But it is clear that this should not be a speculative approach. If you can find a balance, that's a great suggestion."

Ordinals native DeFi? An upgraded version of the BRC-20 BRC-100

Bitcoin-based protocols such as BRC-20 and ordinal number theory have brought a lot of imagination to the development of the Bitcoin ecosystem through the "on-chain declaration, off-chain calculation" mechanism. However, in the Bitcoin ecosystem, the development of decentralized applications such as DeFi is still lagging behind.

On October 19, the BRC-100 index was launched on the official website, according to the developer @MikaelBTC, BRC-100 is built on Ordinals, introducing protocol inheritance, application nesting, state machine model and decentralized governance, bringing computing power to the Bitcoin blockchain and making it possible to build Bitcoin native decentralized applications such as AMM DEX and lending.

In other words, the BRC-100 protocol is not just a token protocol, but an application protocol, which can design decentralized, trustless, censorship-resistant, permissionless applications such as DeFi, SocialFi, and GameFi through UTXO and state machine models, protocol inheritance, application nesting, and built-in decentralized governance design.

On October 25, the Layer 1 Foundation, a foundation established by the founder of BRC-20, Domo, released the introduction of BRC-100, endorsed by Domo, and BRC-100 became a hot spot in the community today.

Hundredfold earnings? PIPE developers write code live

Ordinals founder Casey Rodarmor has always been opposed to BRC 20, so on September 26, he proposed a new protocol based on the Bitcoin network, Runes, as a potential alternative to BRC 20. Casey Rodarmor said that fungible token protocols like Runes will not leave a lot of "junk UTXOs" on the Bitcoin network like the BRC 20 token.

After Casey came up with the Runes protocol, something interesting has happened recently. Trac's founder, Benny, upgraded it to another protocol called pipe, and developers have been adding to it, and development has grown rapidly, and the deployment of the casting platform has been completed.

In the eyes of the community, PIPE is the first token after the concept of Runes was proposed, and it is also the first token of the pipe protocol, which has its dual identity significance, and even compares it to the $ordi in BRC 20. PIPE is seen as another hot story for the BTC ecosystem after ATOM, which minted for only $0.125 in September and is now rising to $100 a piece.

Interestingly, the PIPE ecosystem team even wrote pipe wallet code live online.
