Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong will convene all subsidiary CEOs for a New Year’s dinner early next year and officially share the new year’s business strategy. It is expected that Samsung will use this opportunity to reassess its business direction toward 2026 and prepare to seize global market dominance across various departments.

According to industry sources, the dinner will be held at Samsung Electronics headquarters in Sinsa-dong, Seoul, with plans for most core subsidiaries, including Samsung Electronics, Samsung SDI, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung Display, Samsung C&T, and Samsung Life, to send their presidents. Since Vice President Choi Yong-kwon, head of the Device Solutions (DS) division, and President Ryu Tae-won, head of the Device Experience (DX) division, as well as management from various electronic and financial subsidiaries, will all attend, the event is viewed as the starting point for the group’s new year operations.

The New Year’s dinner is scheduled to take place before CES 2026, the world’s largest home appliance and IT exhibition opening in Las Vegas, USA, on January 6 next year. CES is a platform for showcasing the global tech industry’s blueprint. It is interpreted that Chairman Lee’s leading discussions before the fair aim to reorganize departmental strategies and enhance market responsiveness.

Samsung’s New Year’s president dinner was traditionally held in conjunction with the birthday of the late former Chairman Lee Kun-hee. Until 2014, the early-year dinner remained a core part of the group’s schedule, but it was interrupted after the former chairman’s health declined. During this period, only small-scale roundtables or dinners for new executives were held intermittently. Since Chairman Lee Jae-yong’s official appointment as chairman, the New Year’s dinners covering all subsidiaries have been resumed since 2023. This is seen as Samsung’s attempt to reinforce operational unity based on previous methods.

Especially amid recent recovery in the semiconductor market and global supply chain restructuring, Samsung is regaining growth momentum, which is one of the backgrounds for this meeting. Chairman Lee previously emphasized at an executive seminar in March this year that “management should lead with early reflection and decisive action to turn adversity into opportunity,” and it is speculated that similar remarks may be repeated during this meeting. Industry analysts expect Chairman Lee to urge management to stay alert and continue innovation and market leadership at the dinner.

After the meeting, Chairman Lee plans to personally inspect domestic and international business sites and conduct on-site management. The presidents of Samsung’s major subsidiaries also plan to hold additional meetings at the Samsung Human Resources Development Center in Yongin at the end of this month, with key strategic matters expected to undergo continuous adjustments from the beginning of the year.

These developments are expected to lay the foundation for Samsung’s major business restructuring and future technology investments next year, especially potentially marking the company’s official entry into a phase of strengthening global competitiveness centered on artificial intelligence (AI) and next-generation semiconductors.
