Beijing Huatian Yangtao Lawyer: Digitalization will bring about an era of equality for film and television works.
On October 21, 2025, the “MIRROR 2025 Film and Television Culture Industry and RWA Cross-Border Integration High-End Forum” co-hosted by Mirror.fan and Qianxing Financial Private Directors' Council kicked off at the Lumin Warehouse New Audio-Visual Industry Park in Dongcheng District, Beijing.
Golden Finance is honored to invite lawyer Yang Tao from Beijing Huatian Law Firm for an exclusive interview.
The specific content is organized as follows:
1. Where are the biggest opportunities for the integration of entertainment and RWA? What are the biggest obstacles?
The biggest opportunity point for the integration of entertainment and RWA is that it can activate the existing assets of film and television companies. If completed films are tokenized as RWA, it can create additional monetization opportunities.
The biggest obstacle is asset evaluation. Old IPs are valuable and can be benchmarked, but it's very difficult to evaluate assets for new IPs.
2. What new changes do you think will occur in the consumption experience or participation methods of ordinary audiences after the integration of film and television content with “assetization”?
This will promote the separation of ownership and consumption rights of film and television content. Although the project party develops and launches the film and television content and holds the copyright, it can also choose to concede the rights to the revenue. This practice will also increase user participation, enhance user stickiness, and improve interaction enthusiasm.
3. What do you think is the most critical industry barrier or cognitive barrier that needs to be overcome in the cross-industry integration of film and entertainment with RWA?
I don't think there are any industry barriers. The cross-border integration of entertainment and RWA is just the digitalization of assets; it is merely a crossover, not a barrier.
However, there are obstacles - evaluation. If the evaluation issue can be resolved, then the obstacles will no longer exist.
It is also necessary to pay special attention to the control risks of tokenized assets. However, if practitioners really want to be grounded and do practical work, the state will help solve the problems. For example, when shared bicycles were first placed on sidewalks, it was unreasonable, but it can solve the last mile transportation problem, so they can ultimately be placed on sidewalks. The state will support practitioners at the policy level when it sees actions that are beneficial to society.
4. What do you think is the biggest change facing the film and television cultural industry right now? Is it in creation, financing, distribution, or the consumption methods of the audience?
After the popularity of short videos, the barriers to entry in the film and television industry have been continuously lowered, and it is even possible to directly distribute films using a mobile phone. Consequently, the costs of film and television production have significantly decreased, making financing easier than before.
Currently, audiences prefer fast-food style consumption, basically being brainwashed by short videos. They may lose patience if a film lasts more than five minutes. Therefore, breaking old movies into many short segments can attract the audience's interest and better promote the circulation of film and television works.
5. If film and television works, copyrights, derivative products, and even fan rights can be digitized, traceable, and allocatable, what impact do you think this will have on the industry?
I think this means the arrival of an era of equality. After the rise of AI, ordinary people can create films and television works through AI, obtaining copyrights and derivatives. Digitalization will usher in an era of equality for film and television works, and in this brand new era, the content of film and television works will be richer and more profound.
