[Solana announces the termination of Saga phone support, withdrawing just two years after its launch] Solana Mobile has announced that it will stop providing software and security updates for its blockchain phone Saga, marking the end of the device's lifecycle just two years after its release. The official statement indicated that compatibility with new systems or services will no longer be guaranteed, exposing users to security risks and application failures. Saga was launched in May 2023, originally intended to promote the adoption of Web3, and was developed in collaboration with California hardware company OSOM. Despite an initial price of $1000, which was later reduced to $599, sales only reached about 20,000 units, falling short of expectations. The device once gained popularity due to its pre-installed wallet and Meme coin airdrop, and unopened devices are still being sold at three times the original price in the secondary market. Solana Mobile has now developed the next generation encryption phone “Solana Seeker,” which was released on August 4.
