Modi will be absent from the Asian summit, missing the possible meeting with Trump.

Jin10 data reported on October 23 that Indian Prime Minister Modi will be absent from the ASEAN summit held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, missing the potential meeting with U.S. President Trump. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said on Thursday that Modi called him to inform him that he would attend the ASEAN summit online. Anwar stated, “Modi chose to attend online because he will be participating in the Diwali celebrations in India.” After Trump imposed a 50% tariff on Indian exports, India and the U.S. have fallen into a trade dispute, partly to punish India for purchasing oil from Russia. Trump said on Tuesday that he had a conversation with Modi, who assured him that India would reduce its energy purchases from Russia.
