【比推】Stablecoin issuer Circle announces funding to the United Nations to promote the development of global digital financial infrastructure, aiming to accelerate the efficiency of humanitarian aid disbursements. This announcement was made at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

According to the Circle Foundation, this is their first funding commitment to an international organization, primarily supporting the work of the United Nations Center for Financial Digital Solutions (DHoTS), with the goal of simplifying cross-border fund transfers within the UN system. This continues Circle’s collaboration in 2022 — when USDC stablecoin was used to provide aid to displaced persons in Ukraine.

UNDP Administrator Alexander De Croo admitted that, amid tightening budget constraints, stablecoin payments can “make every dollar go further.” Data shows that approximately US$38 billion in humanitarian funds are still flowing through traditional financial systems annually, and the involvement of digital infrastructure is expected to significantly improve the actual utilization efficiency of these funds.

UNHCR High Commissioner Barham Salih also emphasized that the core significance of this project lies in enhancing the dignity and autonomy of forcibly displaced populations through technological innovation, while ensuring that every donation maximizes its humanitarian utility.
