Powell: It's impossible to assert whether a rate cut in July is too early, and no meeting is ruled out.

Jin10 data reported on July 1st, at the European Economic Forum in Sintra, Portugal, when asked if the Federal Reserve would further ease monetary policy if tariffs did not trigger inflation, Federal Reserve Chairman Powell stated: “After assessing the scale of tariffs, we decided to pause actions.” He anticipated that inflation would slightly rise this summer due to the impact of tariffs, so in light of the economy remaining robust, the Federal Reserve chose to remain patient, and waiting is the most prudent approach. Powell stated that it cannot be asserted whether a rate cut in July is premature, but emphasized that “no meeting’s possibility will be ruled out in advance,” and the next steps will depend entirely on data performance.
