Why do people push for the term 'digital collectibles' instead of NFTs? The answer is surprisingly straightforward.

For something to truly qualify as a collectible, there needs to be genuine demand—people actually wanting to acquire and hold these items for their intrinsic value or rarity. That's the whole point of collecting.

Right now? Most NFTs don't meet that threshold. Without that organic desire to own and accumulate, they're just tokens on a blockchain. The branding shift to 'digital collectibles' feels more like wishful rebranding than reality. Until the market develops real collecting behavior—where people actively seek, trade, and value these assets as genuine collectibles—they remain what they are: NFTs. The terminology gap reflects the fundamental disconnect between what the ecosystem wants these assets to be and what they actually are in practice.

That's right, it's just pretending to be someone else to fool myself, haha.

That's a bit too direct haha, just changing a disguise to fool those who don't understand.

Basically, it's just changing the name to deceive oneself; the game-theoretic equilibrium has not been established at all. --- A typical incentive distortion, where genuine demand can only be explained through storytelling. --- This is the process of self-delusion among stakeholders; I've seen too many failure cases. --- Ultimately, it's still a trust cost issue; no one really wants to hold this stuff. --- The mechanism flaw is right here; renaming can't fix it. --- It's nothing more than governance inertia at play—just changing the name to try to revive it? --- Interesting, this is called the centralized trap—imagination forcibly replacing reality. --- Without dispersed voting power, demand cannot arise out of thin air.

Basically, it's just renaming A, but deep down it's still B... Without genuine demand to support it, no matter how much you package it, it's all in vain.

Exactly right, changing disguises is still the same scam. Things with real collectible value would have skyrocketed long ago. Most of these NFTs are just hype...
