Mars Finance reports that on April 14, recently, Hyperliquid founder Jeff revealed his growth experience in an exclusive interview with Colossus magazine, a subsidiary of Forbes. Jeff grew up with his sister between San Francisco and Palo Alto along the Sequoia Coast. His parents are Chinese immigrants, and they divorced when he was in third grade. His father left the family. His mother is an accountant who works overtime during tax season. Jeff recalls, “I can see that some people are wealthier than us, but I’ve never resented it. Going out to play isn’t expensive.” Jeff’s school did not have an academic competition atmosphere. Although his mother said she wanted to push him, she didn’t actually do so. Until he was a teenager, no one pressured him to do anything. He played outside every day, went to school, came home, and played a little more. In eighth grade, an accidental opportunity sparked his desire to learn. After that, he started on the path of academic excellence: in ninth grade, he self-studied all competition problems, entered the U.S. Math Olympiad training camp (Top 50 nationwide), and at 18, won a gold medal at the U.S. Physics Olympiad, ranking 24th in the world. He then entered Harvard University with a full scholarship. In his junior winter, he participated in Hudson River Trading’s first internship program with Scott Wu. Ten interns were selected at that time. Hudson River Trading is one of the most successful quantitative trading firms in the world. Among these ten, there was also Alexandr Wang, who later founded Scale AI, and Jesse Zhang, who founded Decagon. The internship was conducted in a three-week competition format, and in each round, Wu and Jeff took first and second place.
