Sampling surveys show that 70% of people do not use fire extinguishers correctly; a nationwide fire safety awareness campaign will be launched.

According to a policy briefing held today (the 8th) by the Ministry of Emergency Management and the National Fire Rescue Bureau, last year, the National Fire Rescue Bureau conducted a citizen fire safety awareness survey in some provinces and cities. The results showed that 70% of people do not know how to correctly use fire extinguishing equipment, and nearly 50% do not know how to escape scientifically. Recently, the General Office of the State Council issued the “Opinions on Strengthening Grassroots Fire Safety Work,” which for the first time proposed implementing a “Nationwide Fire Safety Awareness Enhancement Campaign.” The National Fire Rescue Bureau will collaborate with multiple departments to focus on four major activities: widespread fire safety knowledge promotion, large-scale basic skills training, extensive evacuation and self-rescue drills, and case education with big warnings. In the future, key groups such as fire safety officers of social units will receive practical fire safety training to cultivate a group of “fire safety aware” individuals. Fire safety is no longer an “elective course,” but a “life compulsory course” for everyone. (CCTV News)
