Abstract generation in progress

The Artemis II mission to the Moon includes critical safety system components and rocket engines built and refurbished in Rancho Cordova and Sacramento, California. Engineers at L3Harris Technologies (formerly Aerojet Rocketdyne) developed the jettison motor for Orion’s launch abort system, designed to ensure astronaut safety during launch. Additionally, the RS-25 engines and some steering thrusters used for the mission were repurposed from the Space Shuttle era, with origins and refurbishment ties to Sacramento.
