BlockBeats message, April 5, according to Axios, U.S. President Trump said in a phone interview that the United States is engaged in “intensive negotiations” with Iran, with a deal expected to be reached before Tuesday’s deadline. “The chances of a deal are very good, but if they don’t make one, I will destroy everything there.” When asked whether he is concerned about harming innocent civilians, Trump said he believes the Iranian people who oppose his government would support such strikes in order to weaken the regime.
In the roughly 8-minute phone interview, Trump also said that his envoys, Wittekoff and Kushner, are conducting intensive negotiations with Iran. Two sources involved in the negotiations said that communication is carried out both through intermediaries such as Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey, and through text messages between Trump’s advisers and Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi. Trump said that the negotiations are going smoothly, but dealing with Iranians is always difficult to reach the finish line. A few days ago, the two sides came close to an agreement to hold direct talks. But they said they would meet again in five days. “Why five days? I don’t think they’re taking it seriously. So I attacked the bridge.”
According to PolyBeats monitoring, at the prediction market Polymarket, the probability of a U.S.-Iran ceasefire before the end of this month is 22%, before the end of May is 39%, and before the end of June is 49%, all up slightly compared with earlier.
