On July 7, according to reports, Spain’s second-largest bank BBVA has launched trading and custody services for Bitcoin and Ether through its mobile application, further expanding its regulated digital asset services in Europe for retail customers.
The launch of this service was initiated after submitting the regulatory filing to the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) in March 2025, and it is now open to all customers of legal age.
This service allows customers to buy, sell, and hold digital assets within BBVA’s existing digital banking environment. BBVA has fully integrated this service into its own application, without relying on any third-party platforms or accomplices. Customers can initiate transactions independently, and the bank does not provide investment advice.
