On January 7th, Telegram founder Pavel Durov posted on his personal channel stating that despite some unfounded panic-mongering, Telegram does not rely on Russian capital. In our recent $1.7 billion bond issuance, there was no participation from Russian investors. The old bonds issued in 2021 have been mostly repaid and pose no issue. Anyway, bondholders are not company shareholders and have no say in Telegram’s decisions. I am the sole shareholder of the company. BlockBeats previously reported that the Financial Times stated that approximately $500 million of Russian bonds held by Telegram were frozen due to Western sanctions.
