Flow fake token recovery completed: exchange resumes withdrawals, on-chain isolation lock pending destruction

【ChainNews】The Flow network Community Governance Committee has achieved an important milestone—successfully recovering all counterfeit FLOW tokens circulating on centralized exchanges such as Binance and HTX. After verification by forensic teams, these false tokens have been fully isolated and locked on the chain, awaiting final destruction, marking the successful conclusion of the fourth phase of the isolation and recovery plan.

This is the first time in Flow’s five-year operational history that an emergency permission escalation mechanism has been activated. The Foundation provided an update on January 13. All recovery operations are transparently recorded on the blockchain and are fully auditable.

Regarding the timeline, the Flow Foundation plans to revoke the temporary permissions used by the Community Governance Committee during this emergency operation by January 13, 2026; the permanent destruction of the counterfeit tokens is expected to be executed by January 30, 2026. During this period, legal advisors and forensic partners are coordinating with various exchanges to assess potential impacts on users.

Good news is that platforms such as Coinbase, Kraken, and Gate.io have already resumed deposit and withdrawal functions. The Flow Foundation stated it will fully cooperate with exchange partners to restore full services on all platforms as quickly as possible.

Damn, Flow finally figured this out. It took five years to use emergency permissions, they must be really desperate. However, the on-chain isolation and destruction process still looks promising; being transparent and auditable is definitely better than some projects. Wait, what about the user impact assessment? I need to look into the follow-up.
