【Crypto World】European traditional financial institutions are accelerating their entry into the crypto space. Spain’s established bank Bankinter has just participated in the funding of the local crypto exchange Bit2Me, with a financing round totaling 30 million euros. In addition to Bankinter, stablecoin giant Tether also participated.

The story behind this funding round for Bit2Me is even more interesting — the exchange has already gathered heavyweight players from the Spanish financial circle. BBVA, Unicaja, Cecabank, and other established financial institutions have become its shareholders. The addition of Bankinter further strengthens the integration of traditional finance and the crypto ecosystem.

Why are these banks so active? The key lies in the improvement of the compliance framework. Bit2Me is headquartered in Madrid and is one of the first exchanges to complete registration after the EU MiCA regulation took effect. This means it can operate legally across the entire European Union. For traditional banks, such a compliant crypto platform has become a new investment opportunity — they can benefit from the growth dividends of the crypto market without worrying about regulatory risks. This may indicate a new trend of European financial institutions participating in crypto.
