What is the ultimate holy grail of foldable phones? The answer is: completely invisible creases. This long-standing industry problem may be cracked by Samsung at CES 2026.

Samsung’s Secret Weapon Revealed

At the CES 2026 booth, Samsung unveiled a new design featuring a foldable OLED screen. Multiple media outlets who witnessed it firsthand reported that — with the naked eye — the creases are almost invisible. Moreover, the viewing angles of the screen have also been significantly improved.

In comparison, Samsung’s own Galaxy Z Fold7, although already the most mature foldable product on the market, shows a clear gap when compared to this new screen. While the Z Fold7’s creases are already at the industry’s finest level, they still cannot match this new solution.

Industry insiders reveal that this screen is internally named Advanced Crease-less (the core solution for crease-free design). Besides solving the crease issue, it also integrates under-display camera technology, further freeing up design space for the screen.

Why the Sudden Withdrawal? The Cost of Excessive Hype

The screen drew enormous attention after its exhibition, surpassing expectations. Subsequently, the screen was quickly removed from the booth. Samsung spokesperson Rosie Kim issued a statement saying that this screen is still in the concept development stage, with no commercial release schedule or specific plans at this time.

But the phrase “no fixed schedule” cannot stop market imagination.

What Does This Technology Truly Point To?

The most direct beneficiary of this crease-free technology breakthrough could be the rumored foldable iPhone. The upcoming device from Apple most frequently described in leaks is “completely invisible to the naked eye” creases — which perfectly matches the characteristics of Samsung’s new screen.

From an industry chain perspective, this screen’s application is not limited to the iPhone. According to Korean media reports, Samsung plans to incorporate this technology into multiple products, including the Galaxy Z Fold8, Wide Fold, and others. The Wide Fold is a new product line directly competing with the foldable iPhone, with nearly identical size specifications.

The Turning Point in the Foldable Screen Industry

The emergence of crease-free screens accelerates the shift of foldable screens from “cutting-edge tech novelty” to “mainstream consumer product.” This not only represents another breakthrough in Samsung’s display technology but also signals that the entire industry is about to enter a new phase of competition — whoever can commercialize crease-free solutions first will hold the next round of industry dominance.

The holy grail of foldable screens is gradually approaching.
