X platform's latest major announcement has completely shaken up the InfoFi sector. Platform product lead Nikita Bier announced that effective immediately, all applications that monetize user posts through rewards are prohibited from accessing X's API.
The logic behind this decision is quite straightforward: although these applications appear to incentivize content creation, they actually lead to大量 AI-generated spam and repetitive replies flooding the platform, severely damaging user experience. Once these applications can no longer make money, the underlying bot accounts will naturally shut down, and the entire information flow is expected to quickly become clean and refreshing.
Nikita Bier is not an unknown figure in the Web3 community. He is a serial entrepreneur who previously created TBH App—a wildly popular anonymous liking app among teenagers, which was later acquired by Facebook. He then launched Gas App, a positive feedback social platform, which was also acquired by Discord. In July last year, Elon Musk personally invited him to join X as a product lead, and he also serves as an advisor to Solana.
From this move, it appears that X is serious about cleaning up the platform ecosystem, and the wild growth phase of the InfoFi sector may truly be coming to an end.

It should have been banned long ago. Constant robot spam is really disgusting.

NGL, this wave of X's operation is quite ruthless. The good days of InfoFi are probably coming to an end.

Damn, InfoFi is going to fade again. This time, it's really not a pump signal.

It should have been dealt with earlier. I'm fed up with those trash bots.

Haha, really, who would have thought three years ago that InfoFi would become so popular? Now it's already cooling down so quickly. This move is actually a good thing; there's just too much trash content, and robot spam is annoying as hell. But to be honest, the cycle of life and death in this track just keeps repeating. Now it's banned, but in a couple of years, new tricks will emerge again. The crypto world never lacks people who want to make money like crazy haha.

Nikita is indeed a talented guy. He’s been acquired by big companies after consecutive startups, and now he has Elon’s trust. His luck is really good. But I think banning this was inevitable; if we don’t regulate the ecosystem, it will rot. X still needs to stay alive.
---
Basically, it's time for wild growth to slow down. The days are tough for trash coin projects. But I bet in three years, more covert ways will pop up. These people are too good at messing around.

Wait, with such a ban, shouldn’t the guys who invested in the InfoFi concept before start running? Losses can’t be fixed by sugarcoating; this systemic risk is just too big.

Actually, this is the fate of Web3. It always starts with wild growth and then moves to regulation, always a bit late to realize.
