X tightens policy on incentivized posting apps

Social platform X has moved to restrict developer applications that directly compensate users for content creation. According to an announcement from platform leadership, any third-party apps offering payment or reward mechanisms tied to posting activity will face removal.

This marks a significant shift in how Web3-native engagement models operate on mainstream platforms. The "earn-to-post" infrastructure—where infofi protocols previously enabled users to monetize tweets through blockchain incentives—now faces stricter enforcement.

The policy change signals growing scrutiny of tokenized reward systems on centralized social networks. While crypto communities have experimented with these incentive structures to drive user adoption, traditional platforms appear increasingly resistant to external monetization layers.

This development could reshape how Web3 projects approach community engagement strategies on major social channels.

Here comes the old trick of harvesting retail investors again, earn-to-post has been shut down... I knew long ago that X wouldn't let this kind of thing continue.

Elon Musk's move is quite ruthless, directly cutting off the lifeline of earn-to-post, completely blocking Web3's way to harvest profits on X.
