Governance Ideas for Information Aggregation Platforms

The issue of spam replies indeed exists, but simply disabling a certain category of features is a lazy approach.

The core mission of information platforms is to filter signals and eliminate noise. If the current mechanisms generate too much disruptive content, the correct approach should be to adjust the incentive models—not to cut off entire innovative features. After all, some project teams have already been optimizing these incentive parameters.

Rather than destroying possibilities, a more refined design is preferable. This is the way to ensure the long-term healthy development of the Web3 ecosystem.

The direct ban feature is indeed a lazy governance approach, but the problem is that most platforms have no motivation to fine-tune parameters, as the costs are too high.

Cutting everything indiscriminately solves nothing; it's just for convenience. The key point is adjusting the incentive model, but unfortunately, most platforms are too lazy to think it through.

A one-size-fits-all approach is truly lazy governance. Instead of banning features, it's better to properly tune the incentive model.

On-chain data shows that platforms with simple and blunt banning features generally experience a decline in subsequent retention rates... This logic has long been validated. It is worth noting that there is actually a lot of room for fine-tuning incentive parameters. From the code, many projects are already experimenting with dynamic adjustment schemes.

A one-size-fits-all approach is indeed a lazy solution, but to be honest, adjusting the incentive model isn't that simple either, and it often introduces a bunch of new bugs.

A one-size-fits-all approach is indeed a lazy solution, but to be honest, adjusting the incentive model is much more difficult than disabling it. Most platforms prefer to take the easy route.
