Abstract generation in progress

The Accor Arena in Paris will host an elite middleweight division showdown this Saturday, September 6, 2025. Caio Borralho, currently ranked number 7 in the official UFC rankings, will face Nassourdine Imavov, who holds the number 2 position. This Fight Night bout has direct implications for both contenders’ careers as they vie for an eventual shot at the world title.

Event Schedule and Details

The event broadcast on ESPN+ will feature two programming blocks. The preliminary fights will start at 12:00 ET, while the main card will begin at 15:00 ET. The evening will bring together prominent figures from the UFC middleweight division and other categories.

Borralho: The Rise of a Competitive Rival

With a record of 17-1, Caio Borralho has demonstrated consistency and progressive improvement in each fight. The 31-year-old Brazilian fighter is part of the “Fighting Nerds” team and joined UFC after earning his contract on the Dana White Contender Series in October 2021.

His evolution has been remarkable: in May 2024, he finished Paul Craig via knockout in the second round. Subsequently, he faced former challenger Jared Cannonier in what was his first main event in the promotion. That five-round bout captivated fans and was awarded “Fight of the Night.” The victory by decision solidified Borralho as an unavoidable name in the divisional rankings and puts him one step away from contending for a higher-profile fight.

Imavov: The Challenger Eyeing the Title

Meanwhile, Nassourdine Imavov (16-4-0-1) has experienced a more irregular trajectory but with stellar moments. The 29-year-old Russian has recently achieved significant victories. In June 2024, he defeated former title challenger Jared Cannonier in the Fight Night main event in Louisville, with a spectacular TKO in the fourth round after a defensive comeback.

However, his brightest moment came in February when he shocked the combat world by defeating former champion Israel Adesanya via TKO. That victory propelled Imavov into the second line of UFC middleweight title contenders, positioning him as one of the upcoming challengers to fight for the crown.

A Fight with Global Implications

This matchup represents more than just a divisional contest. The winner will emerge as the closest rival to middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev. Both Borralho and Imavov need this victory to solidify their aspirations for the world title. The competitiveness of both fighters, their recent histories, and their rankings make this an unavoidable clash to understand the immediate future of the UFC middleweight division.
