According to recent reports, China’s artificial intelligence sector is on track to breach the one-trillion-yuan threshold within the coming year, marking a pivotal moment for the nation’s tech landscape. The core AI industry, which currently operates at a scale exceeding 900 billion yuan as of 2024, demonstrates robust momentum with an impressive 24% annual growth rate.

Industry analysts from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology project that this growth trajectory will continue its upward arc. Wei Kai, the institute’s AI research director, highlighted that the sector’s expansion is expected to accelerate further, with projections indicating the market will reach 1.2 trillion yuan by 2025—a figure that would exceed current benchmarks and cement China’s position as a global AI powerhouse.

This rapid scaling reflects the deepening integration of AI technologies across industries, from manufacturing to services. The sustained double-digit growth rate underscores strong demand for AI solutions and the increasing capability of domestic companies to capture market share. With the sector already demonstrating its capacity to exceed industry expectations, the trajectory suggests even more substantial developments may unfold as we move deeper into 2025.
