Ethereum 2026 Technology Blueprint: Returning to the Essence of Decentralization

Abstract generation in progress

【Crypto World】Ethereum is brewing a “Return Movement.” Vitalik recently released the 2026 technical roadmap, and the core logic is quite straightforward—over the past ten years, Ethereum has indeed compromised too much in certain areas, and now it’s time to undo those compromises one by one.

What is the most obvious change? Eliminating dependence on centralized RPC services. Many of you currently use Ethereum wallets and interact with DApps through intermediaries like Infura. This may seem insignificant, but it violates the original cypherpunk spirit—why should I trust a third party to verify my transactions?

Two key technical concepts: ZK-EVM and Helios. The former makes local verification truly feasible on consumer-grade hardware, while the latter fills the last mile. Privacy tools like ORAM and PIR are used to ensure user data is no longer transparent—in other words, your transaction history and wallet activity are not just accessible to any service provider.

The roadmap also mentions standardizing social recovery wallets and decentralized storage solutions. These may sound detailed, but together they mean gradually reclaiming power from intermediaries and giving it back to users.

This is not just a simple technical upgrade but a reflection on the architecture choices of the past decade. Ethereum is asking itself: Have we gone astray?

Honestly, I really like this move. It finally reminded me of what I should be like.

To be honest, Vitalik has really woken up this time. When we first bought in, we believed in the cyberpunk ethos, but now everyone is using Infura, isn't that a joke?

Honestly, after relying on Infura for so many years, I didn't realize it until now. Only then did I understand what true decentralization really means.

Wow, finally someone is going to clean up this mess. After ten years of compromise, ETH is no longer what it used to be. Now doing local validation... now that makes sense.

To be honest, this is what should be done. Ten years of compromise have bought what? A bunch of RPC intermediaries, and users have no choice at all. Now it's a bit late to catch up, but it's still better than nothing.

Ten years of compromise need to be reversed? Sounds good, but I'm afraid it will just be another PPT revolution... Those issues with Infura should have been cut long ago.
